My raison d’être for pursuing a theological education was first kindled during a summer retreat to Duke Divinity while I was still an undergraduate. That experience illuminated both my calling and my path forward. Not long after, I was blessed with a full-ride opportunity through the HBCU-DEI initiative for the 2023–24 academic year—a gift that affirmed my commitment to this journey.

I remain inspired. Your encouragement is encouraged.
The end of Affirmative Action sent a clear message. Choosing Howard to pursue my theological education was a deliberate act of faith—one of the few places where graduate studies still felt plausible. The truth is, the financial strain of pursuing higher education as a first-generation learner is a heavy burden. Yet I remain inspired to move forward. I call upon the beloved community to help me navigate this climate of educational liminality; any support is deeply appreciated.

This past spring, I was elected Vice President of Outreach. My work engaged Old Testament scholarship on women in the Hebrew Bible, integrating social issues, the plight of Black women, and the theme of redeeming agency. I boldly argued: If Tupac can be a feminist, so can I. I represent a body of Black women—like my mother—who nurtured my passion for oratory, preaching, and prophetic leadership. In addition, I explored literacy equity through the lens of learning to write theologically. I invite you to engage with both works.
